More about End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD):
With End Stage Renal Disease, kidneys are no longer able to work well on their own. It is the last stage of Chronic Kidney Disease.
Your kidney removes waste and extra water from your body. When your kidneys don't function properly, dialysis may be needed. Dialysis can help to remove extra waste, salt, and water that build up. It can also help to keep safe levels of mineral and vitamins in your body, produce red blood cells, and control blood pressure. Dialysis is usually needed when your kidneys operate at 10-15% of their normal function. There are two ways dialysis can be done. Dialysis can happen through your blood passing through a filter or through a tube that goes in your belly.
Kidney Transplants may also be a treatment option if you have ESRD. We partner with Kidney Transplant Centers to ensure you have the best care possible. We can help you through these choices.
